Comparing it to the 2,305 cases reported in ME46/2023 (Nov 12–18), Dr Radzi said the majority of cases (48%) are made up of those aged between 20 and 40, with 98% of those cases only showing mild symptoms.
"The weekly cases detected have exceeded 1,000 cases every week from ME41/2023 to ME47/2023, with an increased rate between 7.1% and 57.3%.
"Eight active COVID-19 clusters have been reported, with a total of 121 cases involved. The cumulative number of clusters reported up to ME47/2023 is 7,248. The majority of reports are clusters involving the education sector," he said in a statement today.

Dr Radzi noted that the admission rate of COVID-19 patients to health facilities here has increased to 2.9% per 100,000 of the population during ME47/2023, compared to 2% during ME46/2023.
On the other hand, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has also reported on the rise of new Omicron variants, with BA.2.86, which was first reported on July 24, 2023.
In Singapore, there has been a significant rise in COVID-19 infections said the Health Ministry (MOH) on Saturday (Dec 2). The Singapore MOH urged people to keep up-to-date with their vaccinations.
The number of estimated COVID-19 infections doubled from 22,094 in the week of Nov 19 to 25, compared with 10,726 in the previous week, CNA reported.
“The average daily COVID-19 hospitalisations and ICU cases have remained stable,” the ministry added.
MOH said the rise in infections could be due to factors such as the year-end travel season and waning population immunity. – Dec 3, 2023

Wolves were left bewildered by the speed and incision displayed by Mikael Arteta’s side. The visitors were much improved after the break and gave the Gunner’s a scare when they managed to pull one back towards the end. But the North Londoners held on to extend their lead at the top as their closest rivals played on Sunday.

Burnley 5 v Sheffield United 0

Burnley finally secured their first home win of the campaign in this relegation six-pointer. The omens were definitely good when Vincent Kompany’s team scored straight from the kickoff—15 seconds was all it took for the Blades rear guard to be punctured.

The away side was reduced to ten when Oli McBurnie saw red just before halftime, and already down by two, they capitulated to a humbling defeat that leaves them rock bottom. Paul Heckingbottom was heckled by Blades supporters and looks odds-on to be axed soon.

Newcastle United 1 v Manchester United 0

Hunger, commitment and desire—only one team displayed these traits and it wasn’t the expensively assembled side from Old Trafford. The Magpies who are facing a bit of an injury crisis but still put the Red Devils to the sword with a combative performance full of heart.

Manchester United were pinned inside their own half for most of the game as they were seemingly second best to every 50/50 ball. They were lucky not to lose by a bigger margin as chances went begging for Newcastle, not least the skipper’s Kieran Trippier’s thunderous free kick that came off the underside.

Nottingham Forest 0 v Everton 1

Everton have appealed against the ten-point penalty imposed for breaking sustainability rules. While they await the outcome, Sean Dyche’s men must continue to put in battling performances like this. On the basis of this showing, Everton have every chance of surviving even if the appeal is unsuccessful.

The win moves them two points short of safety and given the struggles of the teams around them, the Toffees will be quietly confident of their survival. Forest will need to rediscover their mojo sooner rather than later if they want to avoid taking Everton’s place in the relegation dog fight.

Brentford 3 v Luton Town 1

Brentford were a class above and showed why they have managed to establish themselves in the top flight. Dominant in possession and carving out chances for fun, The Bees toyed with the Hatters throughout the game. But they only managed to break the deadlock in the second half through Neal Maupay, though the breakthrough was never in doubt.

Luton’s game plan seemed restricted to containment and seemed to be playing for a draw. They will certainly need to show more ambition if they want to escape the drop. – Dec 3, 2023

All photo credited to The Guardian
EPL results at a glance: Gunners open gap at the top
Despite bad weather threatening to wreak havoc on the English Premier League’s (EPL) busy festive season fixtures, all scheduled games went ahead last night. Business is booming but rental in the area is high, which eats into his bottom line.

His lease is also expiring soon and he is worried that the landlord may further increase the rent or worse, decide not to renew the agreement.

Rashid began exploring options and being a resident of Subang Jaya, he was keen to have his business near home.

He also wanted a location that would provide him with a similar clientele of students. His search led him to a new development in USJ1 called Edumetro.

Initial research indicated that edumetro was once an ailing development known as Remix 2. However, thanks to the efforts of a white knight developer, HCK Capital Group, it is now a bustling integrated development featuring lifestyle and commercial units.

What really enticed Rashid to check out the retail lots was the news that SEGi College would be opening its new campus in Edumetro.
