LABUAN: The 4th edition of the Applied International Business Conference 2020 (AIBC 2020) to be held here in August will highlight at least 13 economy-related topics.
The two-day conference from Aug 15, is jointly organised by University Malaysia Sabah Labuan International Campus (UMSKAL) and the world’s second largest bank, China Construction Bank (CCB, Labuan Branch).
Themed, ‘Business Analytic and Market Expectations’, it is aimed at promoting UMSKAL’s Faculty of International Finance Labuan (FKAL) with regard to academic and policy discussions relating to current business trends in the Asian region.
Organising chairman, Assoc. Prof Dr Geoffrey Harvey Tanakinjal said the conference theme is in line with current economic issues, which addresses various challenges related to how businesses are being pursued.
“Information is being distributed and knowledge is transferred among international stakeholders,” he told a press conference here today.
Three keynote speakers who have confirmed their attendance are Asia School of Business president and dean, Prof Charles Fine; International Islamic University Malaysia president Datuk Dr Mohd Daud Bakar; and UMS Technology Research Unit head (Computing and Informatics Faculty), Assoc. Prof Dr Rayner Alfred.
A Doctoral Colloquium will also be part of the conference which provides a platform for local and international postgraduate students to present their work related to the theme.
“We are optimistic to receive what we expect of 150 participants…all experts in the field of business, economic, marketing, management, tourism, information technology, Islamic banking and finance as well as psychology will come together.
“It will mainly be an international stage for researchers, practitioners, research scholars and academics from various fields to present their findings,” Geoffrey added.
The conference is expected to be officiated by Minister of International Trade and Industries Datuk Darrell Leiking. – Feb 12, 2020, Bernama.
