INCARCERATED ex-premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak has not only broken his silence but has become more prolific on his social media account over the past 24 hours ever since Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob made public that the Yang di-Pertuan Agong has consented to the dissolution of Parliament to pave way for the 15th General Election (GE15).
His latest Facebook posting took a swipe at Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim after the Port Dickson MP equated “back door Government without the people’s mandate as a betrayal to the rakyat”.
“Dissolve the back door Government to return the mandate to the people is also deemed a betrayal of the rakyat? What does Nuar (Anwar) really want?” the Pekan MP who is serving a 12-year jail sentence at the Kajang Prison hit out.
The Prisons Department has to probe as to how Najib managed to pen his social media post without access to any telco device and Internet (unless his opinion is not genuinely his but uploaded on the instruction of a third party).
Three hours earlier, Najib also jibed at former Attorney-General Tan Sri Tommy Thomas following a recent article by MalaysiaNow with regard to the 800-page report prepared by the special task force team established late last year to investigate Thomas’ allegations.
Apparently, the news portal claimed that the task force gave a damning appraisal of Thomas’ conduct as AG in the report that was presented to the Cabinet last month.
“A source who described the report as ‘very thorough and detailed’ also cited several examples of Thomas’ behaviour that showed his ‘ignorance of Malaysian law’,” chided Najib.
Yesterday, the sixth Malaysian PM was in a poetic mood as he penned a nine-line poem, probably in anticipation of the dissolution of Parliament. Below is the loose translation:
“From the people we come. To the people we return.
This is the principle and system of democracy.
In a democratic system, election is an important process.
It gives power to the people.
The people in power raise or change a Government.
The people in power determine the direction of a country, state or region.
The people in power make choices according to the offers that are available.
Choosing the necessary stability and prosperity.
May Allah SWT bless our motherland and all Malaysians.
As the prospect of freedom looms for Najib, veteran journalist and blogger Datuk A. Kadir Jasin urged the electorate to go out in full forces to vote with the end objective of “denouncing kleptocracy and to make Malaysia a respected country once more”.
“Like it or not, His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong has consented to that decision (to dissolve the Parliament,” the former Bersatu supreme council member penned on his Facebook page.
“Looks like Ismail Sabri has finally succumbed to pressure from the kleptocrats and the UMNO ‘court cluster’. After consenting to dissolve the Parliament but before it was announced, the Agong and his Queen have set off for a ‘special visit’ to the UK.”
Following the latest turn of events, Kadir toyed with the idea that many entrepreneurs, business owners and billionaires will “run” abroad fearing the need to fork out more donation than they had originally allotted for out of fear that they will be accused for siding certain quarters.
“We should not give up. We have to come out and vote. The Opposition shouldn’t be overly egoistic. Be united for the sake of the country and the people. It’s necessary to prevent kleptocrats from returning to power.” – Oct 11, 2022
