Speak up! Action or no action by BN leaders accused of corruption by Zahid?

WOULD the five Barisan Nasional (BN) component leaders take action against the coalition’s chairperson Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi who alleged all five are on the ‘waiting list’ to be charged in court?

The famous five, UMNO deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, UMNO Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hussein, MCA President Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong, MIC President Tan Sri S.A. Vigneswaran and MIC Deputy President M. Saravanan has not responded to Zahid’s allegation.

Are they intending to stay silent on a huge accusation such as this? Or will they speak up and defend themselves? With a looming election, and in order to be in the good books of the public, all five should say something if they wish to clear their name of Zahid’s allegations.

Zahid who is UMNO president previously said that there is not only an UMNO ‘Court Cluster’ but a BN ‘Court Cluster’ and named all the five politicians on the waiting list to be charged in court.

In responding to his remark, DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang hopes that an independent panel agreed by BN, Perikatan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan will decide if BN Chairperson Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi speech at the recent MIC general assembly was ‘spun’ as the latter claims so.

“He (Zahid) said he made clear in the speech that he was talking about political persecution and selective prosecution. That is the risk to BN leaders that I was referring to if our enemies win the 15th general election.” said Kit Siang quoting Zahid.

Kit Siang also said that Zahid made a very weak and feeble attempt to explain away his “brutally frank” admissions in his MIC speech, something which no reasonable person can accept.

The Gelang Patah MP is also questioning the utter silence of the five stating, “Are the five on the “waiting list” to be charged in court?

“I do not know but Zahid appears to know. The Five may know – and this is why their silence up to now is most suspicious and unexpected!

“How long will the five keep their silence that they are on the “waiting list” to be charged in court?” he asked.

Zahid on the other hand has said that his statement made during the MIC general assembly held recently was ‘spun’.

Whether or not his speech has been taken out of context, an independent inquiry made up of all three coalitions should waste no further time and set up an inquiry to investigate these serious allegations.

Many have claimed that GE15 is nothing but an escape route for BN politicians to wade through corruption charges in light of former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s imprisonment in regards to the 1MDB and SRC scandal.

It has been reported that Zahid himself is no saint and is marred with corruption. Hence, they believe GE15, if won by BN, will see the possibility of Zahid becoming the next prime minister, ultimately saving him from the courts. – Oct 13, 2022
