ACCORDING to Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s defamation lawsuit against him won’t have an impact on the cooperation between state and federal governments.
“The lawsuit was a ‘personal matter’ and did not involve the administration of the Kedah government,” FMT reported Sanusi as saying.
Meanwhile on Tuesday (Dec 13), Anwar’s lawyer Messrs SN Nair & Partners filed a lawsuit at the Alor Setar High Court in which the Prime Minister is seeking damages caused by Sanusi for allegedly tarnishing his reputation through defamation/libel, claimed FMT.
Moreover, Anwar asserted that Sanusi had abused his authority as an MP in the statement of claim as deceitful, a traitor, a hypocrite as well as not a good Muslim.
Kelantan ruler and previous Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V had fully pardoned Anwar for his three convictions on June 16, 2018 – abuse of authority and sodomy – on the grounds that there had been a “miscarriage of justice”.
Furthermore, Anwar further noted that the scheme to destroy him was one of the reasons the pardon was granted. – Dec 15, 2022
