Sanusi claims he’s being kicked off the National Finance Council

KEDAH Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Noor, who previously claimed that he was banned from attending federal government events, has made a fresh claim that there are efforts to kick him off the National Finance Council.

According to a Berita Harian report, the PAS leader claimed that there are plans to replace Kedah’s representation on the council with state secretary Datuk Norizan Khazali.

However, he acknowledged that he had no proof to back his claim as the move to oust him had yet to materialise.

“I am talking about this before it actually happens and I cannot allow this (his removal from the council) to happen,” he was quoted as saying to reporters after an iftar event in Shah Alam yesterday.

Earlier in his speech, Sanusi claimed that this was due to his public criticism of the federal government as well as accusing Barisan Nasional (BN) of discrimination.

“BN fell after 50 years due to its discrimination, and leaders who oppressed others will be rejected at every election,” he was reported as saying.

“If they are not overthrown in elections, they will be overthrown constitutionally through Parliament because information (on discrimination) spreads fast.”

Article 108 of the federal constitution stipulates that the National Finance Council must be headed by the prime minister or any appointed minister, while each state is represented by an individual approved by the Sultan or Yang di-Pertua Negeri.

Previously, Sanusi claimed he was barred from attending any federal government events, including the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition, which is expected to be held in May. – April 10, 2023
