Sivakumar faces more calls to quit after MACC corruption probe

ASSOCIATE wing of Malaysia’s ruling Bersatu party has called on Human Resources Minister V Sivakumar to take leave during the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) investigation into two of his aides.

The call for Sivakumar to take leave during the investigation is to avoid any perceived conflict of interest.

The private secretary and special functions officer were appointed by Sivakumar after he became a minister.

MACC has remanded the private secretary, bringing the total number of people detained to three, all connected to the agency’s probe into migrant worker approvals.

Moreover, MACC is believed to be focusing on other individuals within the ministry and its agencies.

The user pointed out that Sivakumar comes from a party whose leader, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is very strongly against corruption.

Hence, Sivakumar must take the moral high ground and resign since the officers under investigation and arrested were most likely chosen by the minister.

However, another user defended the minister, asking why the people did not ask the Opposition leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin to quit as MP when his son was charged with corruption.
