Penang PAS commissioner: Anwar cannot be trusted after the approval of PSI

PAS Penang state commissioner Muhammad Fauzi Yusoff has warned Pakatan Harapan that the approval granted to the Penang South Dam project will result in the people’s rejection of Prime Minister (PM) Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in the state. In a Facebook post today, he stated the approval given by the PM’s administration has caused concern among the people of Penang.“It is seen as an indication of the government’s disregard for the people’s interests and its inclination towards party politics and developer profits,” he wrote. The Penang South Dam project, which involves the construction of three artificial islands, has been met with opposition due to its potential to cause environmental damage, displace local communities and fishermen, and widen social inequality. He said the project has been branded as the ‘Second Singapore’ and viewed as a geopolitical agenda of the ruling party.“This approval confirms again that Anwar is a person who has never been consistent. He had expressed objections to this project before.“Now it is seen as bowing down and looking for excuses for this DAP political project to continue despite objections from many parties,” he added.PAS Penang has called upon all the people in Penang and non-governmental organisations to unite and continue to reject the project.“PSR or PSI has in fact strayed far from the original purpose of the plan to overcome the problem of congested and congested traffic in this island.“The Penang state government should refocus on this issue which has already been formulated through the Penang Transport Master Plan (PTMP) instead of seeking party gains through PSR,” he added. — April 30, 2023
