PERIKATAN Nasional (PN) faces an uphill battle in today’s political climate, with party members making bold statements that are unsettling for Selangor locals.
One such statement was made by a former Selangor executive councillor and a PAS central committee member Dr Halimah Ali who is of the opinion that the Selangor government needs a change after three terms under the same party.
Despite the challenges, PN members remain confident that they can secure Selangor and Penang, which have been a DAP stronghold for many years.
Their strategy involves winning over non-Malay voters in Selangor and unifying their supporters, whom they claim are being divided by the current coalition government.
While these claims lack factual evidence, the PN remains steadfast in its pursuit of victory.

Netizens on Twitter are vehemently against the idea of PN or PAS forming a government in the state.
Under Dr Halimah’s tweet, netizens are stating facts specifically against the PAS. There are comments about how PAS left Kelantan underdeveloped for the past 30 years, and that she has no right to make such a claim for Selangor.
Twitter user @BigJoe470 stated:
If Selangor after just 3 terms already considered “absolute power corrupts” but is one of the most developed states, PAS ruled Kelantan since 1990 (32 years!!!) & still cannot solve the basic supply of clean water, this will be considered what pula?

Netizens do not agree with her statement. The basic needs of a state such as the supply of clean water are barely met in Kelantan. Furthermore, the sentiment that Selangor is better off with the current government is a popular one.
Another Twitter user @monochromtclife said:
Apa yg hgpa boleh tawarkan,yg lebih menarik dari kerajaan Selangor sekarang? Pelaburan? Bantuan kebajikan utk rakyat? Kat Kelantan, Terengganu, Kedah ada buat tak? Kalau kat sana ada buat dan lebih menarik dari apa yg kerajaan Selangor bg skrg, baru rakyat boleh buat perbandingan

“What can you offer that is more attractive than the current Selangor government? Investments? Welfare aid for the people? Have you done that in Kelantan, Terengganu, or Kedah? If you have done it there and it is more attractive than what the Selangor government is offering now, then only can the people make a comparison.”
Another popular sentiment against the party is due to their alleged use of religion for their own gain.
Twitter user @maniletchumanan, while he seems to believe that all governments are corrupt, professed his wish for a system change.
From 2008 to 2013 you people were also part of the “absolute power corrupts” government, in other words nothing changes its only a replacement, replacing a hypocrite govt with another religiously hypocrite govt, we need a change of system..

Barely any comments are in favour of a change in government in Selangor and that shows how tough the battle is for the PN to convince the locals to take the risk of voting Pakatan Harapan out. — May 14, 2023
