INSPECTOR-GENERAL of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Razarudin Husain has one clarification to all PAS members and supporters: the party’s warlord-cum-caretaker Kedah menteri besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor was arrested in the wee hours of today as the police were unable to reach him ahead of his court hearing scheduled at 9am.
Razarudin who has been on his job for one month told a media conference at Bukit Aman this afternoon that numerous calls to the PAS election director and his political secretary were rejected.
“Since we could not reach him, we tried to find him and we found him at 2.30am at Mont Kiara,” said Razarudin. “He was arrested to ensure that he attended court to hear the charges against him.”
Prior to this, the PAS mouthpiece HarakahDaily reported Sanusi and his officials had noticed two men hovering in front of the emergency door on the 33A floor of their hotel at 2am while five other men were in front of the main elevator on the same floor.
“At 2,30am in the morning, the door of his lodging room was knocked and there were more than 20 members outside the room before he was taken out to the hotel lobby,” reported the news portal.
Prior to this, Sanusi and his officials returned to the hotel after having concluded the Perikatan Nasional (PN) supreme council meeting at 11.40pm last night (July 17).
The controversial MB later pleaded not guilty at the Selayang Sessions Courts after being charged with two counts of sedition against Selangor ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.
The courts have fixed Oct 4 for mention of both charges framed under Section 4(1)(a) of the Sedition Act 1948 and punishable under Section 4(1) of the same law which provides a maximum fine of up to RM5,000 or imprisonment for up to three years or both if convicted.

Meanwhile, more than one thousand PN supporters gathered at the Sultan Abdul Halim Airport in Alor Setar to give Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor a hero’s welcome upon his arrival from Kuala Lumpur.
The crowd which began converging at the airport since 3pm were heard shouting “takbir” and “Hidup Sanusi” when the PN election director – accompanied by his officers – walked out of the arrival hall about 4.30pm. – July 18, 2023
