Anwar observes a stirring transformation in Terengganu

PRIME Minister (PM) Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim saw an awakening among the people in Terengganu after having held several series of ceramah (talk) in the state.

He said the support differs from what the opposition received through their ceramah as they only know how to use Quranic verses interpreted to attack the government.

“They (the opposition) recite verses of the Quran. But when I asked them, they didn’t know. They interpreted it according to them. It doesn’t mean that if you can read the Quran you can interpret it to attack people.

“It’s not about the party, what’s good is fine. This is the problem we’re facing. All the attacks and slander are outrageous,” he said at the Madani unity tour ceramah in Hiliran here last night (Aug 9).

He added that the opposition also claimed they are a ‘clean’ coalition of parties; unfortunately, some people believed such lies.

Anwar said that what is even more worrying is that youth are easily influenced by slogans and chants such as ‘Hidup Melayu’ and kalimah Allahuakbar, but behind that the opposition leaders are mere dreamers.

Make the right choice

“Please save this state. If he is corrupt and he steals, it doesn’t matter which party he is in, you can’t trust him,” he said.

He said he also accepts and even agrees that some parties say that the Pakatan Harapan (PH)-Barisan Nasional (BN) government is still unsatisfactory.

“There is a lot of debt, new investments have come in. We are doing our best.. For (Opposition) it is only the sound of empty drums with no projects. For us we will carefully implement good suggestions,” he said.

Therefore, the PM reminded the people to make the right choice and not let the voters be ruled by leaders who fail to implement development quickly.

“They (PAS and Bersatu) have three years, what did they do?,” he said.

At the end of the ceramah session, the PM was surprised by the singing of ‘Allah Selamatkan Kamu’ by all present in conjunction with his birthday which falls on Aug 10.

Saudi Aramco investment

In Marang, Anwar said he has asked the world’s largest oil and gas company, Saudi Aramco to invest in Kemaman, Terengganu.

He claimed that Aramco chairman Yasir O Al-Rumayyan informed him that the company wanted to make Johor the hub for its expansion in the Southeast Asian region.

“But I said it’s okay and I told him to go to Kemaman,” he said at another unity tour ceramah programme in Wakaf Tapai.

Anwar said when the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah performed the haj recently, King Salman Abdulaziz Al-Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud of Saudi Arabia informed him that they agreed to make Malaysia its largest investment hub in Southeast Asia.

“All this is not because of Anwar, but because of the cooperation of PH, BN, Sabah and Sarawak. They know our current government is stable,” he said.

Meanwhile, Anwar said he would never forget the deeds of two political leaders, the late Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat and the late Fadzil Noor.

“They set the best example as a Muslim who defended the fate of the people and loved everyone.” – Aug 10, 2023
