THE unity government understood the signal sent by the people, adding that the country is living in a new era, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Zahid did not clearly state whether he was referring to the recent state polls results in the six states, but he stated that the received signal would be translated into action to correct all related issues.
He then noted ‘the era of the government is right’ and ‘the government knows everything’ has passed.
“Perhaps there is a feeling of dissatisfaction or resentment or perhaps despondency, that is in the past. But we have received a clear message, we have received a clear signal, let’s forget the story of two or three weeks ago, what we want to face is the 9th of this month,” the Bagan Datuk MP said at the opening ceremony of Sentuhan Kasih Desa in Sungai Abong today.
On Sept 9, Johor will hold two by-elections in Pulai and Simpang Jeram. The political attention is now focused on these two seats left vacant by the passing of former domestic trade and cost of living minister Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub.
Moreover, Zahid pointed out that the government will translate this signal into action where the state government and central government have received the message and the signal and changes will definitely be made.
Meanwhile, Perikatan Nasional (PN) leader Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said it is haram (sinful) to vote for Pakatan Harapan’s Pulai parliamentary seat candidate Suhaizan Kayat. He made the remark during a PN ceramah at Taman Kempas on Saturday (Sept 2) night, which drew laughter from the crowd.
“Do not give even one vote to Suhaizan, the former (Johor) speaker. I deem it haram. Tomorrow someone will challenge me which fatwa this was based on,” said the former premier. – Sept 3, 2023
