INVESTMENT, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz via his social media account last night (March 15) said Malaysia is ranked number one in the world among developing countries.
“Overall, we are ranked 27th and this is higher than developed countries in Europe such as the Czech Republic, Portugal, and Italy. But is this true? Who said that?” he wrote on the X platform.
Last month, Malaysia saw a massive influx of FDI of RM329.5 bil, the highest amount of investment in the history of the country, we were told.
This week, an Indian news portal claimed Malaysia is now a top destination for semiconductor investment, sparking social media debate.
A video from the channel says Malaysia is winning the chip war as opposed to Thailand, the US or India.

Opponents of the regime of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim are debating whether chips are important. And this has sparked reactions on the X platform with netizens accusing the ‘supporters’ of some opposition parties as ‘naive’ or devoid of understanding.
Some X users are comparing the performance of the Malaysian government with those of the PAS-led stated which are now under the SG4, a plan backed by former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as an adviser.
Users are saying the opposition has failed to develop their stated and their supporters should not be upset that Malaysia overall is progressing in the right direction under the current government.
Terimalah kenyataan, negara kita mempunyai pembangkang yg bangang dan walaun yg kekal bebal. Contoh, bila Samsuri kata Kerajaan Madani failed. Dia lupa tengok cermin. Sepenggal lebih dia memerintah Terengganu, apa kejayaan yg dia bawa? Nothing. That’s a fact.

Tak boleh nak salahkan geng walaun tu sbb besar kemungkinan pelabur2 asing tak nak melabur di SG4 tu. Tunggu Madey dan Daim bawa masuk balik duit melabur kat negeri2 mereka.

Netizens are saying Malaysians should be proud (that foreign media are saying the country is beating big countries in chip manufacturing investment).
Another sarcastically said the opposition supporters were not capable of debating about chips. They can’t even digest issues like school canteens, new Chinese villages etc. – March 16, 2024
Sbgai rakyat Malaysia, kita patut bangga.. tapi itu la ada juga rakyat Malaysia yg panas hati. Nak jadi pembangkang pun, biarlah membangkang dgn benda yg manfaat. Ni semua benda nak bangkang walaupun ada benda baik utk negara
