Rare winter growth blooms in Chile’s driest desert, showcasing a spectacular floral display

In Northern Chile the sand dunes of the Atacama desert are currently in bloom in the winter.

A combination of weather patterns has left the driest place on earth being carpeted with purple and white wildflowers. Biologists say this phenomena has never been recorded during the winter months.
