PRIME Minister (PM) Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim congratulated the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar in conjunction with the coronation ceremony at Istana Negara today.
“I offer the highest congratulations to His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim in conjunction with the Enthronement Ceremony of His Majesty as the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
“May Allah SWT (God) bless His Majesty’s government and that he continues to be at the highest position in the country’s Constitution, along with the function of the royal institution as a protector of Islam and a symbol of the unity and well-being of all races in this country,” stated Anwar in a statement.
Anwar added that as PM, together with the people, pledged to continue to be loyal to the King of Malaysia and the institution of constitutional monarchy in Malaysia.
“Daulat Tuanku,” he said.
The coronation ceremony of His Majesty and the Permaisuri Agong Raja Zarith Sofiah today is to complete the provisions of Article 32(1) of the Federal Constitution, in addition to proof of the continuity of the Malay monarch’s rule with the rotating appointment system of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
The ceremony, set in the grandeur of Balairung Seri at Istana Negara, serves as a formal proclamation to the world that Sultan Ibrahim has ascended to the throne as the Supreme Head of the Federation, entrusted with the solemn duty of safeguarding Malaysians during his five-year reign. – July 20, 2024
