HIGHER Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Zambry Abd Kadir has pledged full cooperation with police investigations into GISB Holdings Sdn Bhd (GISBH), which has been linked to the banned Islamic group Al Arqam.
Zambry emphasised the need to remove any extremist influence, vowing to weed out propagandists, whether students or lecturers, from higher learning institutions.
A special police task force is conducting a thorough investigation, particularly after a raid on September 11 rescued 402 children from homes linked to GISBH, who were suspected victims of labor and sexual exploitation.
So far, 200 individuals have been arrested in connection with the case.
Meanwhile, Parti Islam de-Malaysia (PAS) secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan emphasised the need for a careful and fair investigation into Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISBH) to avoid injustice or excessive actions.
While supporting thorough investigations into allegations of erroneous beliefs and child exploitation linked to GISBH, he urged authorities to ensure that innocent members and the group’s lawful activities are not unfairly affected.
He highlighted the importance of preserving the group’s positive contributions, including its business network, and cautioned against impulsive actions influenced by prejudice or political agendas. – Sept 22, 2024
