A GROUP of Melaka youths has called on the state’s governor office to withdraw the Datukship title conferred to the GISB Holdings Sdn Bhd (GISBH) chairman Datuk Nasiruddin Mohd Ali in conjunction with the Melaka Governor’s 75th birthday on Aug 25.
In a petition put up on change.org on Sept 20 by Wan Ahmad Afiq Noordin of Akademi Kepimpinan Anak Bangsa, the given rationale is that Nasiruddin who is also GISBH’s CEO has been remanded for seven days by the police to assist in investigation according to Section 12 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Migrant Smuggling Act 2007.
‘The Perlis and Terengganu State Fatwa Committees have also decided that the beliefs and teachings in GISB Holdings were found to contain elements of deviant teachings, particularly on spiritual matters,” read the petition by Wan Ahmad Afiq.
“This petition was initiated to gather the support of Melakans to request the Governor’s Office to withdraw the Darjah Pangkuan Seri Melaka title conferred to Nasiruddin with immediate effect.
“This petition will also be extended to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (YDPA) if no immediate action is taken by the Melaka Governor’s Office.”
For the record, a total of 651 recipients led by Chief Secretary to the Government Datuk Seri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar were conferred various state honours and awards in conjunction with the 75th birthday of Melaka Governor Tun Mohd Ali Rustam.
They include, among others, vocal UMNO Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh who received the Darjah Mulia Seri Melaka (DMSM) which carries the title “Datuk”.
A social media post by Wan Ahmad Afiq to promote the petition had commenters implying that “people don’t have high regard for Melaka Datukship”.

“After all, the sultan is no longer around. Even Shah Rukh Khan can get Datukship. So, there’s no surprise that people involved in deviant teachings can also get it 🤣.” – Sept 24, 2024
