ACCORDING to AMANAH Secretary-General, Faiz Fadzil, the budget is highly attentive to those in need, particularly the B40 families affected by the rising cost of living since post-Covid-19 in 2021.
He said the 2025 Budget, presented by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, is the best in history, especially for its focus on supporting the B40 income group, farmers, fishermen, and youth and it will greatly impact their lives.
He also said that the increase in aid from the Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR), SARA, and the Social Welfare Department (JKM) will provide poor families with up to RM13,000 in annual assistance.
“The maximum cash aid from STR and SARA has been raised to RM4,600 compared to RM3,700, while the allocation for cash aid from the Social Welfare Department has been increased by half a billion ringgit to RM2.9 billion.
“If we calculate the total aid from STR, SARA, and JKM, the 2025 Budget ensures that poor households with three children are eligible for more than RM13,000 in annual aid. This is a very significant increase,” he said in a statement.
Additionally, Faiz said that the budget does not overlook farmers and fishermen, who receive various forms of subsidies and cash assistance and is rich in initiatives for the agriculture sector, with a particular focus on food security. – Oct 20, 2024
