IS there any way to redeem a foolish act caught on video? We suppose adding a sentimental song in the video should help.
In a video posted on X by #UpdateInfo, a group of Mat Rempits could be seen speeding across the highway, completely disregarding their safety and the vehicles around them.
At the same time, the video played a song with the lyrics, “Andai sampainya waktu, aku harus tinggalkan mu…”

Fast forward several seconds and netizens could observe one of the Mat Rempits transformed into Mat Rebah on the asphalt.
To respect the passing of one of their members, the entire gang had their bikes parked at the side of the road while the sad song continued to play.
Listening to the sentimental lyrics, one should expect the online community to be sympathetic towards Mat Rebah. But no.
Instead the majority of netizens heaped criticism over the band of daredevils, calling them irresponsible.
“Death just like that and the rest are still not learning. Surely these are a foolish species,” said a netizen.
Another said it was funny because it matches with the song.
Netizen matty_rysen even prepared a quote for the Mat Rempit. “The deceased was a good person. No wonder last night his face was radiant” – words of a Mat Rempit.
Also, it was reported that the Mat Rempits were furious that Mat Rebah was being recorded. Netizen Irfan Hadi said it was okay to record Mat Rebah.
“He died doing the things he loved. Surely the dead died with a smile,” added Irfan Hadi.
Another netizen said it was worth recording to be shown as a lesson.
Faddy added that he had witnessed such a tragedy before. Not a single car wanted to stop to bring the victim to the hospital.
“Many have reached the level where they will not feel sympathy although the Mat Rempit dies in vain on the road,” he said.
Finally, WafiMajid apologised to those riders who loved to make such acts.
“Everytime you people pass by a vehicle or motor that I am driving, surely there come my prayer for you all to go rolling in front. You people are endangering our lives. How could you expect us to pray for your safety on the road?” said WafiMajid.
Now with all the opinions being compiled, we have to say the sad song isn’t doing too well to garner pity points for Mat Rempit or Mat Rebah.
Malaysians are getting tired of their antics, and the only appropriate song to accompany their death defying stunts is the siren of an ambulance. – Oct 11, 2024
