THE upcoming BERSATU party election is an important opportunity to determine the leadership direction that will guide the party into the future.
Among the main candidates for the vice-president (VP) position Datuk Dr Mohd Radzi Jidin stands out as a young leader who not only has great leadership qualities but also has significant potential to lead the country in the future.
Editor’s note: Bersatu party election next month for the 2024-2027 term will see a six-cornered contest for three vice-presidential positions.
Two current VPs Datuk Seri Ronald Kiandee and Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin will defend their posts while the party’s deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu a.k.a. Peja is also contesting for the VP position.
Three other potential candidates are the party’s information chief Datuk Razali Idris; Selangor Bersatu deputy chief Rafiq Abdullah and Batu Kawan Bersatu chief A’ziss Zainal Abiddin.
As the former Education Minister, the Putrajaya MP and Bersatu’s Federal Territories chairman has played a vital role in governance and in shaping party policies and strategies. He is part of a new generation of leaders capable of elevating Bersatu to greater heights.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the 47-year-old Radzi led the Education Ministry with distinction. He introduced various initiatives that ensured Malaysia’s education system continued despite the crisis, including expanding online learning and improving educational infrastructure.

Additionally, Radzi also played a key role behind the scenes in Bersatu’s political arena. He was one of the main architects of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) manifesto during several by-elections.
Although much of his work was done behind the scenes, his strategic contributions revealed his far-sighted leadership.
Radzi was never alone in his efforts to lead BERSATU. Selangor Bersatu chairman Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, Kiandee and Peja all played important roles in strengthening Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s leadership as the Bersatu president.
They are not merely individual leaders but together they form a solid leadership team that drives the party forward.

With his background in education and economic policy, Radzi can continue to support Muhyiddin in advancing Bersatu’s more inclusive agenda.
With this collective strength, Bersatu is on solid footing to remain relevant in Malaysian politics. Each leader brings their own experience and strengths, creating synergy that strengthens Muhyiddin’s leadership and ensures the party continues to progress steadily.
I believe Radzi is not only deserving of continuing his role as Bersatu’s VP but also has the potential to be a future Prime Minister.
His vast experience, crisis management skills and strong commitment to integrity and principles make him a key figure within the party.
This election for Bersatu VP is an opportunity for party members to choose a leader who not only has an excellent track record but also a clear vision for the future. By supporting Radzi, Bersatu members are choosing a brighter and more stable future for the country. – Oct 23, 2024
