SOME might call it gross, but exotic food lovers are quick to jump to the defence of deep-fried grasshopper which – believe it or not – is a traditional food that is a staple among farming households in Kelantan.
But mixed feelings persists, as evident in a recent video that is making waves on social media.
In the 59-second clip that is not for the faint-hearted, a woman can be seen pouring a sack of live grasshoppers into a large degchi pot.

The insects were then strained and transferred into another large pot where its wings were removed. Later, coated in batter, the grasshoppers were then deep-fried with keffir lime leaves.
