How far should we go to save wildlife? The viral case of a man rescuing a beehive

AS human civilisation grows, we will find our lives intertwining with the wildlife of the land.

Being a responsible and ethical individual, it is only appropriate that we do everything in our power to save these voiceless stakeholders should they come to harm. But how far should one go towards this end?

For a good samaritan, it is about enduring the agony of being stung by bees. In a viral post on X by netizen #UpdateInfo, a man could be seen attempting to save a beehive that had fallen at the centre of the road.

While the bees swarmed over his head and undoubtedly attacked him, he was sifting through the bees on the ground searching for the queen.

Since the queen is a vital member of the hive, it was only appropriate to rescue it first.

No further information could be derived from the video, such as whether the hive managed to recover from such destruction. Also, it is unclear how the beehive managed to get into the middle of the road in the first place.

Nevertheless, netizens praised the man for his bravery and ability to withstand pain.

“Balls of steel. He doesn’t fear being stung,” said Reza 1998.

Netizen A2K added that when a person possesses knowledge and bravery, this is what happens. “The best,” he added.

Kucing Schrödinger, however, pointed out that there were other alternatives to this painful rescue operation.

“Whatever it is, if there is a bee hive, you should ask aid from @penyelamatlebah so that it could be transferred to safety. Bees are the main pillar in the ecosystem, so they have to be taken care of,” said Kucing Schrödinger.

In all the pain and pointy stingers, some netizens managed to find a funny point.

“If the queen dies, the bees can’t just make an election to elect a new queen?” said klub statement.

Another netizen even made a forecast on how the rescuer should look like hours after operation, “save the beehive.”

Looking at all the angry bees swarming his head, we can only applaud the man for this efforts. It certainly diverges from the norm of rescuing cats on trees or puppies in the drain.

It is a brief video and we hope it ends with a happily ever after where they found the queen and she continued her rein in peace.

Either that or the honey should not go to waste. —Nov 19, 2024
