NETIZENS have been wondering aloud about the swift rise of a nurse who went on to become a Pahang state assemblywoman before becoming a parliamentarian for the Bentong constituency.
What has got netizens’ tongues wagging is that Young Syefura Othman a.k.a. Rara has now been appointed to the board of trustees of Yayasan Bank Rakyat alongside fellow DAP Bangi MP Syahredzan Johan soon after her appointment to the board of the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA).
Just what expertise does this 35-year-old who is touted as he first female Malay MP of DAP possess to have her land such a high-profile appointment?
“What a career!” was how social media influencer Zac (@ZacZakirin13) applauded Rara’s meteoric rise in a post on the X platform.

The poster went on to state that youngsters should pursue nursing course post-SPM as there is precedence of superfast upward mobility. He sarcastically remarked that this was made possible by using “Type C charging cable which is the fastest”.
More than one could not contain their amazement at the career trajectory of this healthcare professional-turned-politician.
One lauded the pro-Madani poster for tackling the subject, contending that it is the duty of every citizen to question things. He urged others to not be blind followers.
True enough, the poster acknowledged that a culture of criticising is preferable to a culture of pandering. He further pointed out that PMX had even told fellow Pakatan Harapan (PH) politician Hassan Karim (Pasir Gudang MP) to point out any wrongdoings by the Madani government.
One lamented that it was a Malaysian culture to keep appointing those without experience to cushy jobs. He stressed that this has to stop.
Another wondered if proper governance procedure had been adhered to in Rara’s appointment to the Yayasan Bank Rakyat’s trustee board.
More than one echoed the sentiment that it was a case of strong connections.
One could not help but mock the rallying call of Reformasi, citing this as an example of a good intentions gone awry.
