Muhyiddin gets support for roundtable discussions in building a National Reconciliation initiative

RECENTLY Bersatu President and former Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is organising roundtable discussions to address critical issues facing Malaysia.

Zaid Ibrahim, a lawyer and political figure, emphasised that the focus should be on ideas that benefit the country, stating, “The critical indicator or litmus test of whether a proposal is good or bad is whether the country will benefit.”

He also highlighted the importance of addressing the problems of foreign workers, urging, “Regularise them. Stop harassing them. If they are required and necessary for the economy, regularise them.”

The discussions proposed by Muhyiddin aim to bring together patriots willing to prioritise the nation’s interests over group or sectarian agendas.

Zaid also said the Madani government is failing and the country needs such exchange of ideas to stop the rot.

Yesterday, Muhyiddin Yassin stressed the need for new ideas and a National Reconciliation initiative to strengthen Malaysia.

He called for collaboration with political parties, NGOs, and community leaders to rebuild the nation.

Muhyiddin highlighted the importance of harmony among races, upholding Islam, Bahasa Melayu, and the rights of Malays and Bumiputras, while ensuring the welfare of non-Malays.

He acknowledged the need for increased non-Malay support and assured their rights would be protected. He also proposed uniting Bumiputra NGOs to promote their agenda. —Dec 1, 2024
