WITH two MPs from Pakatan Harapan voicing their opposition to the Batu Puteh Royal Commission of Inquiry in Parliament, Kemaman MP and Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar said truth and justice triumphed.
In a post on X, the PAS member said the recent debate on the RCI report on Batu Puteh in Parliament saw a dramatic session.
“Perikatan Nasional MPs approached the debate with wisdom, while two government MPs – Pasir Gudang MP Hassan Abdul Karim and Puncak Borneo MP Datuk Willie Mongin – opposed the motion,” he noted.
He also emphasised the importance of unity in defending the nation’s dignity.
“The unity of leaders in defending the dignity of the nation is commendable. Regardless of political background, this collaborative effort demonstrates that the national agenda cannot be compromised.,” he stated.
The motion regarding the RCI Batu Puteh report faced criticism from several lawmakers.
Willie and Hassan raised concerns about the fairness and appropriateness of the motion, while Kota Bharu MP Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan criticised the report for being incomplete and politically motivated.
Despite the debate, the motion did not decide as Law and Institutional Reform Minister Datuk Seri Azalina Othman moved to adjourn the session after concluding her speech. — Dec 14, 2024
