HUMAN right activist and lawyer Siti Kasim has hit out against Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil and the Madani government for going all out to silent dissenting views.
The last straw that drew her anger was when she was unable to access her social media accounts, notably Facebook, TikTok and Instagram when she wanted to upload content into her accounts without the use of VPN (virtual private network service).
“Something is happening which is done by the power that be,” fumed the Orang Asli advocate in a YouTube video.
“Hello Fahmi Fadzil, what the hell is going on? I don’t know whether you’re behind this or not but this can only be done by the government agency, namely MCMC, by controlling someone’s ID.
“I’m not a technical person but this is a serious issue with regard to our freedom of expression and in giving our opinion … it seems like the power that be is really, really trying to shut us up so we can’t talk about anything that they don’t want to hear.”
On this note. Siti Kasim pointed to satirist Fahmi Reza who was summoned to Bukit Aman yesterday (Dec 19) “for the weirdest of reason” in that the complainant of his controversial caricature of newly-minted Sabah governor Tun Musa Aman was a Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) staff as opposed to the public.
“I cannot believe it … Fahmi Redza got hauled up by the cops just for a satirical cartoon,” teased the Orang Asli advocate.
“There is nothing wrong with the cartoon as Tun Musa Aman had a corruption case in the past but was freed … Don’t tell me that we don’t have the right to criticise? Oh my God, this is getting far worse than I could ever imagine.

“I really want to tell the Madani people up there that whatever you’re trying to do, we’re not idiots for we can see what’s happening, how you’re trying to stop our conversation, our talks … we don’t know how you’re doing it but we know you’re behind this.”
To re-cap, Siti Kasim has recently lambasted the University Malaya management after the oldest public university in the country cancelled the “Malaysia’s Identity Crisis: Is Malaysia a Secular or an Islamic Country” forum slated for Dec 17 at the eleventh hour primarily due to her role as a speaker at the event.
“So, stop this … you can maybe last for one-term for you already have trust deficit now by the people who voted for you,” she berated.
“What we know is that our rights have slowly been snatched right before our eyes by the power that be which is very dangerous for the future of us as Malaysians. Don’t think you’re not going to be affected because you’ll so you better take note of what I’m saying today.” – Dec 20, 2024
