Lady shocks cyberspace with crazy amount of sugar added into sambal

MALAYSIA has always been known for its food, but never for its healthy food. This statement is best highlighted by a trending video post on X which showed a lady cooking sambal for her nasi lemak.

What’s special? The amount of sugar she added into the sambal would give any onlookers pause.

According to netizen mhmmdhsm who made the post, 14 kilos of sugar was added into the mix unlike what was shown in the video.

Apparently this was not shown as the video had to be cut short due to the length of the music. “Why don’t you just add more onions,” said mhmmdhsm.

The video which was likely a horror movie for any medical officer has since sparked a debate on health.  Netizen SAEDAH said this is why so many Malays have diabetes.

Echoing her statement was Ahmad Shahimi Senawi who said, “Cut your legs.” This is likely a reference to those suffering from the above mentioned disease.

Winning the sarcasm award was Mimmy Ti’s comment.

But the winner of the picture comment goes to wydm.

Looking at the amount of sugar being used, M Suki added that these are the people who increase the price of sugar.

Her cooking style reminded one netizen of the people of the east who loved their sambal sweet. “There’s only one thing in my head, Kelantan,” said jidz, already certain.

However, a few netizens defended her “recipe” stating that the amount of sugar used was justified as the portion was huge.

AimanHaziq further pointed out that onions were expensive.

“Sugar is only RM2.80 a kilo, and it’s fast, just cut and pour. With onions, you need to peel, clean and blend,” he said.

On a separate note, the lady also sells Nasi Lemak King Crab, which is an interesting innovation.

According to her on TikTok, the meal was priced at a whopping RM400, but it comes with four free nasi lemak.

But looking at the amount of sugar content in her meal, we think we will pass. —Dec 30, 2024
