CELEBRATED cartoonist Fahmi Reza posted a photo of himself with Pakatan Harapan (PH) MPs with a quote: “Assembling peacefully is a fundamental right enshrined in the constitution. Happy gathering. Happy democracy.”
The post is iconic because the cartoonist knows the PH MPs in the photo, Bangi MP Syaredzan Johan and Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil, who is also the Pantai Dalam MP, will not be tempted to join him in the rally.
Berhimpun dgn aman adalah satu hak asasi yg termaktub dlm perlembagaan. Selamat berhimpun. Selamat meraikan demokrasi. #KitaLawan #RakyatBenciRasuah pic.twitter.com/NHKYzyOKWZ

But he is not the only one who is inviting the former street demonstrators who are now chastising the students over the anti-corruption demonstration.
The former PKR’s student wing vice-chief Yan Xiang who resigned from the party after the Dewan Rakyat passed controversial amendments to the constitution’s citizenship provisions, also invited Syahredzan to join the rally.
He commented on a post by the Bangi MP dated January 2022. In the post, the MP complained that people were blocked from gathering in front of Sogo, asking, “Then people gather elsewhere.
“This is not the first time people have demonstrated in Malaysia. But the (government’s) approach has not changed.”
