JUST when we thought that the Fear Of Missing Out (FOMO) culture of lining up to try viral food would dry out, here comes more.
In a video post on X by netizen kamaghul deghaman, a long beeline could be seen stretching several blocks.
In fact it was so long that the video recorder had to use a car to show the true length of it. And the coveted object of this beeline? Cubremi, a local cosmetic brand.
According to the netizen, people were willing to line up for seven to 12 hours just to get their hands on the product.
Not surprisingly, a good majority of the online community condemned those in the beeline for their foolishness.
Netizen Minime said that with seven hours, she could board a flight and reach Tokyo. Then there was Zulhilmi Rosli who pointed out that it was possible to make a virtual queue system instead.
Another netizen added that she would have quitted if she saw 10 people lining up, further wondering how people could stay up for seven to 10 hours.
Badri Akif pointed out that people in general are not patient enough to wait for their turn at the health institution while long beelines such as these could occur for a cosmetic product.
“In the afterlife later, how will you answer to god when he inquires about the things we have done with our time,” said Aiman Mo’eis.
“Why is it that we don’t find it strange when such things happen in Kedah or in Penang,” ben wondered.
One netizen added sarcastically that it was their hobby to line up.
As for us, we do not judge the actions of others as Malaysia has always been a free country.
Regardless, we would like to point out that the seven hours of wait time could be have been utilised for something more productive.
Why wait in line when you could just wait for all that buying frenzy to die out and make the purchase without all that unnecessary competition. —Feb 2, 2025
