Waytha fumes at PDRM for turning blind eye on socmed threats of “bombing Hindu temples”

MALAYSIAN Advancement Party president Waytha Moorthy Ponnusamy has hit out at the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) over its reluctance to not initiate investigations on seditious social media (socmed) content against Hindus over the 130-year-old Dewi Sri Pathrakaliamman Temple row.

Specifically, the Hindu Rights Action Force (HINDRAF) founder was referring to a recent assertion by Deputy Inspector General of Police (IGP) Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay that the police will not commence probe despite “thousands of degrading, humiliating and openly incendiary comments targeting Malaysia’s Indian minority”.

Describing the inaction as “exposes a toxic double standard approach to justice”, Waytha claimed that the posts on Facebook, TikTok and X, among others, include calls for “a May 13-like riot to put Indians in their place” and even suggestions to “bomb temples”,

“These are not just hate speech but clear incitement to violence,” berated the former national unity and social well-being minister on his Facebook page.

“Yet, the authorities tasked with upholding law and order appear to side with the majoritarian bully mindset, turning a blind eye to threats against minorities.”

Waytha went on to slam PDRM and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission’s (MCMC) inaction as “not negligence but complicity”. ‘Their cowardice plants seeds of division that may one day reap chaos,” he lamented.

“When those in power sacrifice justice for personal survival and trade fairness for majority appeasement, they betray the soul of the nation. A country’s moral backbone does not snap overnight – it bends slowly, corroded by silence until one day it breaks.”

He further wondered: “Will the Madani government, which champions justice and reform, act decisively – or will it, too, play to the gallery of majority sentiment to cling to power?

“Could this entire un-Malaysian episode be a deliberate ploy by the Madani administration – sowing division and targeting the weak to cling to power?” – April 7, 2025
