RESIDENTS of Kuala Lumpur are more than familiar with the traffic congestion that dominates the road, especially during those peak hours. But if the situation is reversed, would things be any better?
Recently, a netizen went viral for starting an interesting topic which felt like being stuck between a rock and a hard place.
He asked if netizens would choose to be in option A: traffic jam where they would finally reach their destination within five hours, or option B: a quiet road that goes up and downhill with sharp turns for two and a half hours.
The topic has since prompted a large response from fellow netizens, garnering about 1,600 shares and over 282 comments and counting. Many netizens have since turned up to share their experience.
Kalau anda… pilih yang mana?
A. Sesak ( 5 jam baru sampai )
B. Sunyi, naik bukit turun bukit, banyak selekoh. ( 2 1/2 jam ) pic.twitter.com/JYc4wxLNU9— Fedtri Yahya (@fedtriyahya) April 19, 2025
According to netizen @JohnJLoco, it reminds him about the condition of the road along Kuala Klawang versus Bukit Putus during the Raya celebration.
“If it is during the night and it is Bukit Putus, no,” said @roseafrina.
Interestingly, Bukit Putus came up multiple times in the comment section, with many netizens stating that it was a creepy place.
One netizen claimed there were two places which were very scary and quite dangerous to pass through during the middle of the night. It was either the road along Bukit Putus or Karak Lama.
But some netizens suggested otherwise. “When I go to my mother’s house in Semenyih, I always use the Cheras-Kajang highway. But sometimes I take the Hulu Langat road. Go up Bukit Ampang and then it’s quiet. On the way, you can see the Semenyih dam and the Nirvana Chinese cemetery,” said @spidergladiator.
Then there was @eeezalll stating that he would take option B should it be in broad daylight. If it was dark, he would rather stare in the traffic jam.
A prudent netizen by the name of @Najiha_Nazri opined that it was better to take the highway when driving alone.
If there were many people, for example, four to five people, then she would consider taking the old road which is quiet, since they could help out should something happen.
Another netizen gave an alternate option, preferring a road where there are many stops for rest and relaxation.
Lastly, @shasyaedora believed that it was easy to get sleepy when driving in a traffic jam. With option B, she is usually fresh and focused.
To each his own. On our part, we think the choice between A or B is but a matter of what we can and cannot control. With a traffic jam, there is nothing much anyone can do besides waiting it out.
As for the creepy road with sharp turns? Simply slow down. Fear is but the product of an unruly mind. Easier said than done though. —Apr 20, 2025
