Putrajaya civil servants struggling with obesity, say X users

A RECENT news piece claimed that 80% of government civil servants in Putrajaya are “overweight”.

There are several users on X discussing why this is possible. Some even claimed that these civil servants are taking multiple breaks every day. It is unsure how true these claims are as they’re still on the clock.

The Public Service director-general Tan Sri Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz emphasised the need to address obesity as it impacts both health and workplace performance. He urged civil servants to prioritise health alongside their duties, inspired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s healthy lifestyle example.

Following that, netizens made satirical remarks about our government civil servants, claiming that they’d have a feast for every minor occasion.

An X user claimed that they’d have at least three meals while working, and if they were to have a meeting without food, the organiser would be allegedly told off. These are mere claims from social media users, it is unsure if they’re true.

Another user claimed that these civil servants move at a snail’s pace, calling it glacial. They added that, if not for the hassle, they’d likely envy such a cushy job.

Some users stated their civil servant friends would definitely be offended seeing these remarks. Others claimed there are indeed hard-working individuals working as civil servants.

However, they claimed that these hard-working individuals are generally quite slim and fit. — April 26, 2025
