Roadside trader’s dangerous stall set-up is accident waiting to happen

SOME people just lack common sense.

Take this small trader as highlighted on Rin Lorinah’s Facebbok page. A vendor is photographed setting up a stall – not by the kerb – but onto the actual road itself!

The poster exclaimed that this was trading while getting ever closer to the Almighty. She also cheekily urged the vendor to move towards the middle of the road so that she was easy to spot and customers could conveniently stop and buy.

There was also a sarcastic caption to the photo with the vendor lamenting that there was ill will towards small traders with someone making a report.

The post has generated 13K likes, 6.2K comments and 1.2K shares at time of publication with many commenters unable to believe this utter lack of safety awareness for the trader herself, her customers as well as other road users.

Think before doing, was the call from a couple of commenters. This was not a search to make a living but a search for death, they proclaimed.

One commenter simply urged her to find a safer or rather an accident-free spot to do business.

A few saw it as a drive-thru service.

One commenter had a funny pun (based on the film Ringgit Kassorga), intimating this attempt at earning a ringgit would lead to heaven’s door.

It was lamented that this was the actions typical of those who just unable to see their obvious wrongdoings. These species would get upset when their mistakes are pointed out to them, observed one commenter.

A few commented that setting up stall at a junction was the height of stupidity and an invitation for some unfortunate accident to happen.

It was also argued that just because the vendor was a small trader, that doesn’t mean that she needed to have a small intellect as well.

In the end, it was surmised that perhaps some should indeed report this vendor to the relevant authorities as such action is paramount for her own safety.

Common sense – this not about being envy at one’s fortune but may just save a life. – June 24, 2025
