Bursa Malaysia reverses earlier gains to end slightly lower

BURSA Malaysia gave up earlier gains to end marginally lower as selling pressure emerged in the afternoon session, despite the broadly higher regional market performance.

At 5pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) eased 0.84 of-a-point, or 0.05%, to 1,587.07 from Wednesday’s close of 1,587.91.

The index opened 1.35 points higher at 1,589.26 and moved between 1,587.07 and 1,596.16 throughout the day.

On the broader market, decliners outpaced advancers 605 to 469, while 465 counters were unchanged, 1,105 untraded and 112 suspended.

Turnover narrowed to 2.92 billion units worth RM2.92 bil from 3.09 billion units worth RM2.93 bil on Wednesday. ‒ Aug 28, 2025
