Actress Nadia Kesuma confirmed dead from heart attack in Jeddah

MALAYSIAN actress Nadia Kesuma, real name Nadiah Kasumawati Abdul Karim, who was reported missing in Jeddah has tragically passed away due to a heart attack shortly after arriving at King Abdulaziz International Airport on January 15, 2026.

The 50-year-old, known for her roles in films such as Syaitan Munafik and Kudeta, was part of a 21-member Umrah tour group organised by a travel agency from January 14 to 28.

She was to take a flight from Jeddah to London when she became uncontactable. The news of her passing was announced by her daughter, Myra on social media.

“Assalamualaikum everyone, I would like to inform you that my mother, Nadiah Kasumawati Abdul Karim, has returned to Rahmatullah on Jan 15 at approximately 8.05am.

Thank you to all of you who have not stopped praying for Mama. Please pray that her soul be placed among the faithful, that all her sins be forgiven and that she be blessed by God,” she wrote.

Her husband, Universiti Sains Malaysia lecturer Dr Muhammad Kamarul Kabilan Abdullah, also posted on Facebook to share his grief.

“With great sadness and sorrow, I would like to announce the demise of my beloved wife Nadiah Kasumawati Bt Abdul Karim, who passed away peacefully in the land of anbiya (Jeddah) on 15th January 2026 at 8.07am,” he said.

Dr Kamarul and their daughter are travelling to Jeddah this morning to accompany her in the final journey.

The initial reports of her being missing arose from the sudden silence after she confirmed safe arrival, before the family was informed of her passing. —Jan 18, 2025
