Zafrul’s witness statement nears completion in Muhyiddin graft trial

THE PROSECUTION is currently preparing the witness statement of former Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz for the case involving Muhyiddin Yassin.

The former Prime Minister was charged with abuse of power involving bribes totalling RM232.5 mil in connection with the Jana Wibawa Project from three companies, Bukhary Equity Sdn Bhd, Nepturis Sdn Bhd and Mamfor Sdn Bhd.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Datuk Wan Shaharuddin Wan Ladin informed Judge Noor Ruwena Md Nurdin that 99.5 per cent of the witness statements had been handed over to the defence, with only the key witness statement yet to be delivered.

“We will submit Tengku Zafrul’s witness statement to the defence two weeks before he testifies in court,” he said.

On a separate note, Muhyiddin was not present at today’s Dewan Rakyat sitting, about 10 days after his party’s deputy president, Hamzah Zainuddin, who had been seated beside him, was dismissed from Bersatu.

The post of chairman of PN, previously held by Muhyiddin following the 2022 General Election, has since been taken over by the Chief Minister of Terengganu, Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar of PAS. —Feb 23, 2025
