Netizens praise IOI City for creating new job, Halal executive

IN A country knit with the colourful fabric that is multiculturism, any effort to promote racial unity should be lauded.

So IOI City Mall definitely deserves its accolades as pointed out in a post on X by netizen @SyedAkramin.

He highlighted a job offering on linkedin called Halal executive, who is required to manage the certification on the MYeHALAL Portal.

The job description according to the job poster Mohd Nasrul Bin Azmi sounds interesting too.

Apparently the Halal executive needs to maintain and improve the Halal Assurance System, conduct internal and external audits, and verify daily QC reports too.

The salary range was between RM5,000 to RM8,000. Regardless, such a positive effort to maintain racial harmony still gets criticised by certain parties.

Netizen @kaijuday pointed out that Halal executives are praised while requirements for mandarin speakers are insulted.

@B05AN further shared that this job is no longer new, being available since 2003.

On a positive note, @kimiwarrior91 said bad performing malls can learn from IOI City Mall which provides spaces for Friday prayers.

“They know their target market,” @kimiwarrior91 added. @Bryan58376943 has much to say about the job too.

But it appears the story is not as it seems. Take it from netizen @vanillathundhh who believed that IOI was not responsible for creating the job position.
A closer check revealed that the job offer was from an outlet in IOI City Mall, Putrajaya. Sadly, the name of the outlet was not revealed. Here are also several requirements for the job position.

What we are looking for:

Identity: Malaysian Muslim only (due to JAKIM regulatory requirements).

Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Halal Management, Food Science, Nutrition, Food Technology, or a related field.

Certification: Must possess a valid, JAKIM-recognized Halal Executive Training Certificate.

Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience handling Halal matters in food service, retail, or food manufacturing.

Skills: Strong understanding of MHMS/HAS, GMP, and HACCP frameworks. Excellent command of Bahasa Melayu and English.

Flexibility: Detail-oriented, punctual, and willing to travel for work-related purposes.

Regardless of the online debate, one thing is clear. The vacancy offers a competitive salary for qualified candidates.

So, if you meet JAKIM’s requirements, have the relevant experience and are looking for your next career move, perhaps it’s time to put the social media arguments aside and submit that application instead.—July 6, 2026
