AT least 26 people have been killed and more than 100 injured in a riot at Negombo prison in Sri Lanka.
Authorities say the violence began as a fight between rival prisoner groups before escalating, while some inmates accused security forces of opening fire indiscriminately.
Families gathered outside the prison demanding information about their relatives as investigations continue. —July 7, 2026
