“KERANA nila setitik, rosak susu sebelanga” is an old Malay adage that translates to mean a single bad person or a small mistake can ruin the reputation or well-being of an entire group.
This seems to be the case with a dashcam clip catching a cluster of kids alighting from a car to hastily dump their rubbish into a river used as a stick to beat an entire community.
Instead of focusing on the uncivilised behaviour itself, a post on X by Fendi #RobohKuilHaram (@BendiTheBagak) decided to highlight the ethnicity of perpetrators instead.
The obviously rightist poster sarcastically claimed that he first thought the incident happened in India till he noticed the BN (Barisan Nasional) and PH (Pakatan Harapan) flags in the background. In essence, he thought that such behaviour was extremely irresponsible and uncivilised.
3 ANAK INDIA BUANG SAMPAH KE DALAM SUNGAI 😡🖕
Aku ingat ni kat India, rupanya kat Johor sebab ada bendera BN ngan PH.

Editor’s Note: Both flags denote that the incident has most likely taken place Johor with campaigning in full swing for the upcoming state election scheduled this Saturday (July 11).
Asking if these were the values being taught in vernacular schools, the poster further huffed that these wanton dumpsters were “behaving as if they were in their homeland”.
Making sure everyone knew where he stood, the poster hash-tagged the post as #pariahwatch.
The post on X has generated 122.1K views at time of writing, denoting that such content has its followers who gleefully use it as an opportunity to pour scorn on an entire community.
Some education ‘experts’ felt that this shameful clip was evidence why that community did not fare well in moral studies.

Such anti-social behaviour was derided by one commenter who fumed that “when a river considered sacred is polluted with corpses and considered the dirtiest in the world (presumably referring to the Ganges), what more a river that is not considered sacred. 🤣😂”.

That sentiment was echoed by another commenter who also took issue with the person taking the footage for not honking to signal their displeasure at such wanton and illegal dumping.
It was made clear that the viralling of the incident was not effective as it merely asked netizens to pour scorn on the litterbugs.

While making racist jibes, one commenter urged that such irresponsible action be reported to the relevant authorities, including a blown-up image of the registration plate of the offending vehicle.
Another argued sternly that the book needed to be thrown at these dumpsters to ensure they learn their lesson.

Some citizens felt that the blame lay with the parents for inculcating such anti-social values.
If the problem isn’t nipped at the bud by the parents, then this will be a never-ending problem argued another disappointed observer.
Using Japanese parents as exemplary for passing on the right values with their citizens noted for their cleanliness – both at home or abroad – it was added that this wasn’t a difficult task.

Some netizens just could not help but stereotype an entire community with first-hand observations to back up their claims.
It was claimed by one observer that “those who lived in terraced houses would treat the river as a garbage can while those living in flats would use the downstairs unit as a rubbish bin”.

One lone voice in the thread highlighted that East Coast Highway is covered with rubbish annually during Raya holidays. “Pot calling kettle black” was the unimpressed retort.

Yes, such wanton dumping in the rivers is totally unacceptable. But the uncomfortable truth that such behaviour is a Malaysian malaise rather than it being confined to a single ethnic group.
For sure, take stern punitive action against these perpetrators. Make an example of them. After all, the evidence is there.
But please refrain from using every viralled video of anti-social behaviour as definitive proof of an entire community’s lack of moral fibre. – July 9, 2026
