PRESIDENT Tharman Shanmugaratnam has urged Singapore and Malaysia to further deepen their integration against a fracturing global economy, calling their relationship an example of how close neighbours should work together amid uncertainty.
He was speaking to Malaysian news agency Bernama ahead of his four-day state visit.
Mr Tharman added that the true strength of the partnership lies in hard-earned trust that has been built over the past six decades, and the relationship must never be purely transactional.—July 13, 2026
