GOOGLE has officially launched its YouTube Creators for Impact programme in Malaysia, bringing together six local content creators to help parents build safer online habits and promote children’s digital well-being.
The initiative is part of YouTube’s broader efforts to strengthen online safety by equipping Malaysian families with practical guidance on parental controls, digital wellness and responsible technology use.
According to Google, 72% of Malaysian parents say using digital safety or educational tools together with their children gives them greater confidence in discussing online safety.
The programme aims to make those conversations more accessible by leveraging trusted creators with established online communities.
The six Creators for Impact Lighthouse Creators are A Lad and a Dad, Aqil Zulkiflee, Fourfeetnine, FU LOVE, Im_siowei and JE Pong.
Over the next two months, they will participate in workshops with industry experts focusing on parental controls, youth well-being and online safety before producing educational content for Malaysian families.
Their content will centre on three key themes: helping parents understand YouTube’s parental safety features, encouraging healthier digital habits at home, and demonstrating how technology can be used for learning and skills development.
Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching welcomed the initiative, describing online safety as a shared responsibility.
“Building a secure and resilient digital ecosystem is a core national priority, but achieving a truly safe online space requires a shared commitment between the government, industry leaders and communities,” she said.
“We commend Google’s proactive efforts to build a digitally secure community in Malaysia by utilising our nation’s vibrant creator ecosystem.”
Google Malaysia and Singapore Managing Director Ben King said the company has invested in online safety tools for families for more than a decade.
“We believe in protecting kids in, not from, the digital world,” he said.
“By combining our technology with trusted local voices, we hope to give Malaysian families the confidence to build a more secure digital world.”
Content creator JE Pong, one of the programme’s participants, said becoming a parent had changed the way she viewed online platforms.
“Our responsibility is not to fear technology, but to master it with confidence,” she said.
“Through Creators for Impact, I hope to help families bridge the gap between technology and parenting so children can explore, learn and grow safely.” ‒ July 22, 2026
