MALAYSIAN digital health company MedPlanner Sdn Bhd has introduced two new features to its AI-powered health application, AskHEMI, allowing users to receive personalised health guidance and manage their medications more effectively.
The update introduces Personalised Health Intelligence and Medication Reminders, transforming AskHEMI from a general health information platform into a personalised digital health companion. The features are now available free to iOS and Android users in Malaysia and overseas.
The Personalised Health Intelligence feature enables users to build an individual health profile by uploading information such as medical conditions, medications, allergies and laboratory results.
AskHEMI then uses this information to tailor responses to users’ health-related questions.
For example, users can upload laboratory reports or prescriptions for interpretation, or ask whether a particular medication is suitable based on their existing medical conditions and current prescriptions.
The new Medication Reminders feature allows users to schedule medication alerts, record whether doses have been taken or missed, and monitor their adherence through weekly and monthly tracking charts.
MedPlanner founder and chief executive officer Dr Ezam Mat Ali said the update was designed to provide users with more personalised and meaningful health guidance.
“By adding greater intelligence to the app, every response is grounded in the user’s own health profile. This update sets us further apart from many generic AI health apps available today,” he said.
Dr Ezam said AskHEMI was developed to bridge the gap between medical appointments, when patients often have questions about symptoms, medications or test results but may not have immediate access to their healthcare providers.
“AskHEMI is a daily health companion, not just when questions arise, but every single day. As users engage with their own health data and receive information they can understand, they become more informed about their own health. That health literacy is one of the most powerful things we can give a patient,” he elaborated.
AskHEMI is powered by the company’s Health Medical Intelligence (HEMI) AI clinical engine, which combines multiple large language models with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) technology to provide health information based on user queries and uploaded data.
Beyond text-based interactions, the application also allows users to upload or capture images using their smartphone camera to obtain AI-generated health insights, such as identifying possible skin conditions and advising whether further medical attention may be required.
The application supports multiple languages, including Bahasa Malaysia, and is available globally.
While the app can be downloaded and used free for basic features, subscription plans start from RM10 per month, with higher-tier plans available for more frequent users. ‒ Aug 4, 2026
