TENCENT Cloud and U Mobile have signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MoU) to jointly develop and test 5G and artificial intelligence (AI) solutions for Malaysian enterprises and small and medium enterprises (SMEs), marking Tencent Cloud’s first official AI-focused partnership with a Malaysian telecommunications provider.
The collaboration will combine Tencent Cloud’s AI and cloud capabilities with U Mobile’s ULTRA5G network, enterprise reach and Enterprise Innovation Platform (EIP) to develop, validate and demonstrate practical business applications before they are commercialised.
As a strategic partner of EIP, Tencent Cloud will work with U Mobile through the platform’s “Develop-Test-Demonstrate” pathway to identify and validate AI-driven solutions that address real-world business challenges. Successful projects could progress to pilot deployments, commercialisation and broader market adoption.
Tencent Cloud senior vice president and head of Tencent Cloud International Poshu Yeung said the partnership would help businesses turn emerging technologies into practical applications.

U Mobile chief technology officer Woon Ooi Yuen said the company’s next-generation 5G network would serve as a platform for practical innovation across industries.
“Our partnership with Tencent Cloud strengthens this by bringing together 5G, AI and cloud technologies to explore new applications across industries,” he stated.
“Through our Enterprise Innovation Platform, we look forward to turning promising ideas into practical solutions through our Develop, Test and Demonstrate pathway, bringing them a step closer to real-world adoption.”
The two companies said they will engage businesses, startups, developers, academia and technology partners through workshops, demonstrations, innovation sessions and pilot showcases to co-create and validate new applications.
The partnership will also facilitate the exchange of technical expertise in areas including 5G, AI, system integration, cybersecurity and enterprise deployment, with the aim of strengthening Malaysia’s wider digital innovation ecosystem.
