ONE wonders whether there is a deep state at play given so soon after the Attorney-General Chambers (AGC) threw a spanner into the purported UMNO-orchestrated proclamation seeking to remove Negeri Sembilan Yang di-Pertuan Besar Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir from office, another major shocker ensued.
This time around, Federal Territories (FT) Minister Hannah Yeoh was dragged into the picture for having authorised the house arrest order of incarcerated former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak – an unfounded claim which she profusely denied.
“The FT Pardons Board has not yet convened,” she penned in a Facebook post at 1.05am today (Sept 18) in reaction to copies of house arrest order purportedly signed by her when the ultimate consent should have come from the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (at the advice of the FT Pardons Board).
“Please don’t spread this fake document. My press secretary has lodged a report with the authorities (Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission [MCMC]),”
In fact, Ahmad Fazli Mohd Yadi who is Yeoh’s press secretary had earlier denied that the signature on the house arrest order is that of the DAP deputy secretary-general.
“This is clearly this is just a slander. It is not a signature of Hannah,” he penned on Threads. “I’ll file a report with the authorities in the near future.”

The initial speculation was sparked by Singapore Straits Times at 7.05pm yesterday (Sept 17) that the FT Pardons Board will be recalled to discuss Bossku’s pardon bid on Sept 18 (today) which is merely a week after the matter was deferred at the board’s last meeting.
It cited official sources which described the meeting s highly unusual given scheduling of such sessions is normally the prerogative of the executive branch.

“This is a very rare move. Out of the blue, the pardons board will have another meeting with just one item on the agenda. I think there is some sort of intervention,” an official source told the daily on Sept 17, speaking on the condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter.
Spread like wildfire at midnight
Like it or not, many UMNO loyalists and Bossku fans alike rejoiced at news of an eventual house arrest dream come true for their idol while Madani backers sought to ascertain the authenticity of the so-called house arrest decree.
“Alhamdulillah, wonderful news!” jumped one Threader with joy with one commenter reminding that “whoever wants to steal, must do so big time, not little by little”.

“Steal hundreds of millions at once. Insyaallah there will be leaders lobbying for forgiveness,” he mocked as another urged the police “to investigate why and how this document could be spread prior to its date”.
“Even if it’s fake, the culprit can still be charged … That’s all.”

Interestingly, even Meta AI, the virtual assistant and generative artificial intelligence platform created by Meta Platforms, the owner of Facebook, detected flaws which breaches the Official Secrets Act 1972 in the circulation of the fake news.
Even if the letter is true, Hannah Yeoh will not sign the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s (YDPA) decree – the decree is (to be) signed by the YDPA himself with the stamp of approval.
Hannah is currently the FT Minister who sits as a member of the Pardons Board, not the one to issue the decree.
The viral letter is also strange: dated Sept 18, 2026 (tomorrow) with a convoluted sentence, and a format “By the Decree of His Majesty” but signed by the minister.
The Board itself has previously explained that it is not a department under the BHEUU/JPM (Legal Affairs Division of the Prime Minister’s Department). BHEUU is only the secretariat and previously, a fake statement like that was denied as fake.

To a question if the culprit “has not done a clean job😂😂”, Meta AI added:
Right 😂 it’s really not clean at all.
Tomorrow’s date, convoluted sentences, then the format of the Royal Decree but signed by the minister – that’s where he got caught quickly. If you want to really fake it (the pardon document), you have to study the flow of the Pardons Board first. – Sept 18, 2026
