FOODPANDA Malaysia has committed RM1 mil to LINDUNG Kendiri, extending social protection support for its delivery partners nationwide as part of wider efforts to strengthen welfare for gig workers.
The contribution was announced during the Festival Mega iLINDUNGu: KESUMA Bersama Rakyat at Strand Mall, Kota Damansara, where government agencies, employers and gig workers gathered to promote awareness of social protection schemes available to the gig economy workforce.
The initiative marks the third time foodpanda Malaysia has supported LINDUNG Kendiri, which encourages greater social protection coverage for self-employed and gig workers.
“Our delivery partners are at the heart of foodpanda,” said foodpanda Malaysia managing director Kenneth Soh.
“Every day, they are out on the road serving customers, supporting merchants and working hard to support themselves and their families. This contribution recognises their commitment while giving them greater access to protection when they need it most.”
Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri Ramanan Ramakrishnan said industry participation was essential in strengthening Malaysia’s social protection framework as the nature of work continued to evolve.
“Contributions such as foodpanda Malaysia’s support for LINDUNG Kendiri help extend protection to more gig workers and complement the Government’s efforts to build a more inclusive and resilient workforce,” he said.
The RM1 mil contribution forms part of foodpanda Malaysia’s broader panda hearts programme, which supports delivery partners through initiatives focused on safety, financial wellbeing, personal development and welfare.
