Negeri Sembilan PKR Youth questions UMNO’s credibility after MB’s scolding

THE Negeri Sembilan PKR Youth Movement (AMK) has questioned the credibility of the state’s UMNO-Barisan Nasional (BN) leadership following reported royal displeasure from Negeri Sembilan Yang di-Pertuan Besar Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir towards Menteri Besar (MB) Datuk Ismail Lasim.

AMK Chief Mohamad Hamizan Mohd Bahtiar stated that the incident damages the dignity of the politicians involved and the public trust in them.

He said this raises serious doubts about the Negeri Sembilan government’s capacity to maintain stability and fulfil its mandate.

“After the mandate was given to UMNO and BN, is the promised stability truly being enjoyed by the people, or must they instead witness a political crisis that tarnishes Negeri Sembilan’s image?” he said in a media statement.

Criticising UMNO-BN’s election promise of stability, he argued that electoral mandates a license for imprudent political manoeuvring.

Highlighting Negeri Sembilan’s heritage rooted in Adat Perpatih and respect for the monarchy, AMK urged the state administration to exercise maturity, diplomacy and crisis management.

In a viral video recorded following Friday prayers at Masjid Kampung Beting, Tuanku Muhriz openly confronted Ismail over a letter sent to the Keeper of the Rulers’ Seal questioning the monarch’s legitimacy.

“Go away, I don’t want to see you,” Tuanku Muhriz told the Negeri Sembilan MB, who was seen bowing respectfully before walking away. The incident was captured in a video that went viral yesterday (Oct 16).

The confrontation follows months of political instability triggered when the Undang Yang Empat attempted to depose Tuanku Muhriz in favour of his cousin, Tuanku Nadzaruddin.

Despite claiming he signed a proclamation recognising Tunku Datuk Seri Nadzaruddin Tuanku Ja’afar under duress, Ismail later announced plans to gazette the document.

In response, Tuanku Muhriz sacked 10 state executive council members, prompting a High Court challenge. — Oct 17, 2026
