What to expect on Bursa Malaysia this Wednesday

BELOW are excerpts of viewpoints from two selected research houses on what investors can expect in the day ahead:

Berjaya Research

The FBM KLCI recouped all its previous session losses, maintaining positive momentum throughout yesterday’s trading session.

Trading volume improved to 3.4 billion shares while market breadth turned positive, reflecting broad-based buying interest across the broader market.

The FBM KLCI is expected to maintain a cautious bias amid prevailing market uncertainties with investors likely to adopt a wait-and-see approach ahead of key economic and monetary policy developments.

Market sentiment will hinge on Malaysia’s Producer Price Index (PPI) data and the US Federal Reserve’s interest rate decision later tonight for greater clarity over inflation expectations, monetary policy outlook and overall risk appetite.

The improving market liquidity and positive sentiment could lift the lower liners over the near-term.

Nevertheless, selective buying may prevail over the broader market while investors are likely to remain vigilant and monitor external developments for clearer directional cues.

With the 1,600 psychological remain well supported as of late, an extended rebound could lift the key index towards the immediate resistances located at 1,620-1,630 points. Meanwhile the immediate supports are pegged at 1,592 points, followed by 1,580 points.

Malacca Securities Research

Tracking Wall Street’s overnight gains, we expect the FBM KLCI to extend its advance today.

Stock-wise, traders could consider Westports Holdings Bhd, supported by its resilient container throughput, expectations of stronger fourth-quarter volumes and the scheduled 5% tariff increase from January 2027.

Eco World Development Group Bhd also remains on our radar after sales reached approximately RM5.1 bil, exceeding its RM4 bil FY2026 target.

Sales that had already surpassed the target before the group’s RM1.01 bil land sale to Tera Data Centers provided a further boost.

Its industrial development pipeline and build-to-lease data centre projects could support longer-term earnings growth with the latter backed by its existing RM1.88 bil financing programme.

The FBM KLCI remains below key moving averages. Momentum indicators suggest that selling pressure may be easing, with the MACD histogram expanded toward its positive territory while RSI traded above the 30 level.

Key resistance lies at 1,625-1,630 while near-term support is expected around 1,590-1,595. – Oct 28, 2026
