UNITED Overseas Bank Malaysia Bhd (UOB Malaysia) has temporarily closed eight of its 45 branches from today until the end of the Movement Control Order (MCO) period.
The affected branches are in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Pahang, and Sabah.
UOB Malaysia CEO Wong Kim Choong said the bank decided to close the branches due to significantly reduced traffic since the implementation of the MCO.
“However, we will continue to make available self-service banking facilities within the affected branches, except at our Medan Pasar branch which is located near Masjid India that is currently under enhanced MCO.
“Customers in the Masjid India area who require over-the-counter services or self-service banking facilities can continue to be served at the two nearest branches located at Jalan Raja Laut and Jalan Pudu,” he said in a statement.
Wong added that customers may continue to manage their cash needs via the bank’s automated teller machines (ATMs) and cash, cheque and coin deposit machines from 8am to 8pm daily.
The bank would continue to monitor customer traffic across its branches as well as assess its preventive measures accordingly for the well-being of its customers, staff and community, he said.
In line with the need for all members of the community to adhere to safe distancing measures, UOB Malaysia encourages its customers to use its digital banking services, including UOB Personal Internet Banking, UOB Business Internet Banking Plus and the UOB Mighty mobile app. — April 20, 2020, Bernama
