SIME Darby Property Bhd has announced a new senior management line-up, starting with the appointment of Datuk Azmir Merican Azmi Merican as its new group managing director, effective immediately.
In a statement today, it said Azmir was formerly the managing director/CEO of UEM Edgenta Bhd, and has an excellent track record of delivering results.
“His expertise includes organisational transformation, business restructuring, operational competence and corporate finance.
“He spearheaded UEM Edgenta’s ongoing transformation as a technology-driven company in the healthcare support services, property and facility solutions, and infrastructure sectors,” it said.
Following Azmir’s appointment, the acting CEO Datuk Wan Hashimi Albakri Wan Ahmad Amin Jaffri will resume his position as the company’s Township Development chief operating officer.
Sime Darby Property also announced the appointment of Mohd Sohimin Mohd Alayedin, formerly executive director of Tropicana Corporation Bhd, as its chief special projects officer.
Mohd Sohimin has more than 29 years of experience in property development and construction, and had held senior positions in various companies including Glenmarie Properties Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of DRB Hicom Bhd; Kumpulan Hartanah Selangor Bhd and Sunway City Bhd.
The property developer also appointed Izzat Alhadjri as its acting head of corporate communications, effective April 1.
He oversees the full spectrum of the company’s corporate communications, including media and public relations, social performance, government relations and overall stakeholder management. — April 22, 2020, Bernama
