THE Health Ministry has reported 2,433 COVID-19 cases and nine deaths in the past 24 hours.
In a statement today, Health Ministry’s director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also said that there were 1,277 recoveries, bringing the total number of those recovered to 108,109.
“The total number of infections now stands at 135,992. Unfortunately, nine people have lost their lives to the virus, bringing the total number of fatalities to 551,” he said.
Those who passed on involve six men and three women, aged between 37 and 94. Seven of them were Malaysians and rest are foreigners.
They all suffered from pre-existing medical conditions. Five were from Selangor, three from Kuala Lumpur and one from Sabah.
Selangor recorded the highest number of cases again with 730 infections, followed by Sabah (403) and Johor (321).
On related matter, Noor Hisham announced that five new COVID-19 clusters have been detected in Malaysia.
The new clusters are Cyber construction site (Selangor), Texmile (Selangor), Jalan Sibuga (Sabah), Alor Durian (Kelantan) and Wakaf Lanas (Kelantan).
“As of Jan 10, there are 586 clusters including the five new clusters.
“I wish to announce that seven clusters have ended; which are Bandar Impian, Indah Mas, Kubota, Batu Tiga, Rumah Merah, Sri Jujur and PTS Sibuga,” he added. – Jan 10, 2021.
